Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is an American-British sitarist and musician. She is also the first and youngest woman to win a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising star on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is both the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She was a child who bounded around from London and New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her first show in New Delhi. Then she moved into Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording. Since a while, she performs regularly alongside her father. In 1998, she released Anourag as her first solo record. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Since she's performed at all the major stages in all over the globe, her stage career has been extensive. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't limited to performing in music. She published Bapi the Heart of My Life, in the year 2002. It is a biography that pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was an Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is continuing to advance on her path and will surely be new things that will be coming from this talented lady. Anoushka shankar is an English born musician who spent her childhood split between London, Delhi and California. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies at age nine. Four years later she performed her sitar debut in Delhi at her father's 75th birthday party. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of knowledge by traveling around the globe along with the father. She performed at Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest woman to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musicianship in the Asian Arts.
